Guide to Why Bad Things Happen

Sometimes really bad things happen. There’s no sugar way to coat it. They just suck…

…but how can bad things happen when you’re using the Law of Attraction?

Why would you attract something you don’t want?

You would never do it intentionally…or would you?

“Dazed and Confused” asks:

“My question is how does disease work with the law of attraction? If for example someone I love was just diagnosed with cancer the law of attraction states I brought that to myself. How did I attract that to my self? The same lies with death? If a loved one dies how did I attract that to myself?”

Why Bad Things Happen When Using the Law of Attraction

Thank you so much for your question. I get asked questions like this regularly, but rarely write about them because the answer can be difficult for people to accept.

People keep asking why bad things happen because they want to feel better. They want more than “That’s life” or “Bad things just happen.” They want to understand what is happening so they don’t have to go through pain, struggle, or hard times again.

Before we begin, I want to explain that it is not your fault. It’s not your fault that someone you love gets cancer or any other disease. It isn’t your fault if a loved one dies.

You are not being punished. Their illness and/or passing are their manifestations. They are not your punishment.

Your loved one doesn’t become ill or die because something went wrong.

You did not cause something bad to happen.

There are many reasons why your loved one may have attracted illness and death to them, and none of it has to do with you. So please don’t blame yourself or feel guilty for what they are experiencing.

I know how difficult it can be to understand how the Law of Attraction works when it comes to illness and death. This isn’t an easy topic. Think of it as advanced Law of Attraction.

I know you want to know why bad things happen. Why and how did you attract an ill loved one into your life? Why is this happening to you?

How did you Manifest this Experience in the First Place?

Honestly, there could be several reasons.

Perhaps you have a fear of cancer or death that is manifesting.

Perhaps you were wanting to manifest certain experiences or opportunities and this is the avenue through which they will come to you.

Perhaps it is actually really positive – something that will make more sense in the days to come.

You came into this world to fully experience life. You don’t come into it just for the “good”. You saw all experiences as good, even the challenges. You realized that the challenges could be some of the best things that could happen to you, some of your most beneficial opportunities.

In coming here, your goal was to expand – to discover more of life’s experiences, to understand more of the world, and to grow in your knowledge and adventures.

You saw all experiences as fun. There was no judgment about good or bad. You recognized that the concepts of good, bad, right, and wrong are man-made concepts. To the greater you, they were (and are) all good stuff because they provide different opportunities to grow.

The greater you saw illness and death as beneficial experiences. You wanted to explore every possible experience you could. You knew such challenges could help you learn more about what you want to create in your life.

If you’ve never experienced the “bad”, how would you know what you like?

Without contrast, how would you know whether you want to experience more of one thing and less of something else?

You aren’t here to experience a loved one having cancer and dying. You are here because the knowledge of a loved one being ill and dying allows you to choose something else instead.

My intention with this next bit isn’t to throw you off balance, but this bit of advanced Law of Attraction might do that: When you truly understand oneness, you will know that you are your loved one. You are both observing a loved one with cancer (or a loved one who has passed), and you are the loved one who has the cancer (or who has passed).

In that respect, you are both the observer and the participant. There is no separation between you and your loved one – you are the same; you are oneness.

You are adding both perspectives (that of the observer and the participant) to your knowledge.

It is when a person has experienced everything he chose to experience in a lifetime that he transitions to a non-physical state (what people generally call “death”). Thus, when a loved one passes, you are also gaining knowledge of how to transcend this existence.

How you choose to experience your loved one’s illness/passing is your decision.

If you have found a way to perceive their illness/passing in a way that makes you feel lighter and hopeful, then you have found the bigger picture. You understand how this experience fits into everything, and you are now able to shift your reality so that you no longer attract what you don’t want.
