A Special Lammas Ritual for Abundance | Welcome To Wicca Now

Hi, my loves and welcome to WiccaNow. Recently I’ve been talking about some of the 8 Wiccan Sabbats of the year, like this post all about Ostara, another about Samhain and also one covering Imbolc. Today I want to continue on from my most recent post about Lammas by sharing my favourite Lammas ritual with you.

Lammas is a time to enjoy the abundance of the growing seasons and to welcome the start of the colder months. It’s a great time to reflect on what intentions you set during the colder months of the last year and to see if, and how, those intentions have manifested.

I’m a firm believer in the idea that what you put out there comes back to you threefold. I often find that the times when I’m generous, I get much more back in return than I put out. And no, this isn’t always in reference to money, I’m not a loan shark, I promise! If I put energy into something that I believe in, and trust that it’s going to work, then generally I’ve been successful. The same does apply to the times I’ve lent people money actually. While I sometimes may have not received the money I lent back, often I’ve learned something more valuable in the process or been repaid in some other which I wasn’t expecting.

Lammas is a celebration of all that we receive and of all the good things we have in our lives. It’s not a time when you’re asking for things and setting intentions (though you can if you want). It’s more about enjoying the things you already have and acknowledging the fact that some of the energies you put out earlier in the year might have reaped rewards.

Lammas is a festival where you should enjoy the fruits of your hard labours! Make yourself a kombucha cocktail (sooo delicious when mixed with black currant juice, mint, sparkling water and plenty of ice) or grab yourself a glass of champagne and enjoy your feast!

General notes before you start your Lammas Ritual

  • This ritual is all about giving thanks for the things you have in your life. While you can set intentions for things that you would like to manifest, I generally prefer to use this time to reflect and take joy in the abundance I already have. By doing this you are also inviting the abundance you already have to thrive and increase.
  • This ritual uses a candle as a representation of the sun and because Lammas is a fire festival. Please be extremely careful and practise fire safety. Don’t wear billowing clothes near flames and never leave a candle unattended. Keep children and pets away from the flame. • If you can, bake your own bread. If you aren’t a baker (it’s totally fine, not everyone enjoys it!) then simply buy a loaf of your favourite bread. Splurge here and really get the best quality you can afford because this sabbat is all about revelling in the abundance of life. The same goes for the olive oil.
  • I love to include a crispy cold cider into this ritual because for me it’s such a representation of Lammas as it depends on an abundant apple harvest. You could also use beer, wine or a grain-based alcohol if you like. If you don’t drink a wheatgrass shot or glass of delicious juice is also absolutely wonderful.
  • Cinnamon is a prosperity herb and boosts the energy of whatever you’re pairing it with. Let it lit your celebration and provide you with abundant energy and great vibes.
  • I try to be outside for this ritual, but if you don’t have access to an outdoor area, then it’s also fine to do it inside. You have to be a little more creative but isn’t adaptability part of what witchcraft is about?
  • When I talk about abundance I don’t necessarily just mean material things. While the material can provide creature comforts and access to resources that not everyone has, it’s not all there is to life. Abundance can come in the form of love from your friends or a pet, creative ideas which flow freely, the ability to see the light in difficult situations. It can be a job which you love or a home that brings you joy. It can be running in the park and finding freedom or listening to a track a losing track of time. It can be easy to get lost in the mundane everyday struggle, but there is abundance everywhere you look. Once you manage to tap into the feeling of abundance, everything you want will flow to you in some way or another, you just have to be open to it coming to you from a different angle to what you might have imagined.
