As a Reiki practitioner, do you offer house calls? If you don’t do house calls but would like to begin offering house calls as one of your services, here is what I suggest:
1. Does your client have room for you to set up before your session?
When offering house calls to clients it is important to discuss logistics with them. Do they have a room in their home where they can receive Reiki without being disturbed during the session? Is there the appropriate amount of space for your table, your tools, and you? The room that your client chooses should be clean, with good air flow, and with enough space for you to move around in.
2. How will you transport all of your tools?
When I have offered house calls in the past, I stick to bringing the bare essentials with me. My table, clean sheets and pillows, a basic set of crystals, incense and sage to clear my client’s space before and after the session, one sound bowl, and a particular essential oil depending on the client’s needs. I am fortunate enough to have an SUV in which I can pack all of these supplies in comfortably. I like to clean all of my tools after I return to my home.
3. The vibration of a location affects the response.
In my experience, one of the most important things to do when conducting a Reiki house call is to cleanse the energy of a client’s space before setting up. If at all possible, try to open a window to let the smoke out once the cleansing is complete. Then you can begin to set up all your tools. I will admit that this process takes a bit longer, but I prefer to work in an environment that I know has the best vibration possible.
4. Clearing a foreign space and set up time must be added to appt time
Before a healing session, take the time to check in with your guides to see if there is anything you need to know for yourself prior to your session. You can meditate and clear your own energetic field. I suggest that you do this on your own time, either the night before the house call or, time permitting, a few hours before the house call.
5. Travel time, distance, and mileage calculation must be factored into the price of your session
Depending on where your client lives, I suggest that you factor in travel time and mileage into the price of your session(s). This is not an unreasonable request, however, you would be surprised how many people will reject the increase in pricing if you quoted them with one session price and then came back to give them another price that includes these additional fees. You may want to have a list of pre-set travel fees on your website or wherever you publish your practice. This way a client knows beforehand that if they want a house call, they are going to have to pay a different price from your regular rates.
