Balancing The Root Chakra Aromatherapy Blend

I’ve been talking about balancing chakras with essential oils, but I never shared how to actually do it. Today I’ll be making aromatherapy blend for balancing the Root or Muladhara Chakra.

Even if all our chakras are well balanced, there are times when one of it may go a little out of the symphony. When Root chakra is under-active or blocked, with low energy flow, we may experience it on emotional level like depression, anxiety, fearfulness, resentment. We may feel like we can’t fully settle down with anything in our life.

If it’s overactive we may experience impatience, anger, short temper issues, feeling stuck, being overly attached to something, worry about money too much, difficulty of let go. Remember that Root chakra is responsible for our survival instincts.

To find out more about which essential oils are resonating with this energy center you can read in my article here. There is no right or wrong essential oil, they all work, but it’s totally up to you which one to choose. I always rely more on my intuition regarding which oil to pick. I want it resonate with my emotional state at the moment and the feeling and experience I want to achieve.

Lately I’ve been experiencing impatience and as a result I felt anger, irritation, instability in my emotional state. I felt like I really need to connect with my roots, with the earth. It took me some time to realize that I’ve been really neglecting my Base Chakra and focusing more on my upper chakras.

To bring the energy back into alignment I decided to make an essential oil roll-on blend for my Root Chakra. I choose to use 4 essential oils: vetiver, patchouli, cedarwood atlas and sandalwood.

Vetiver is very grounding and smells like earth after the rain, I love the feeling it gives me. Patchouli I find to be also very grounding and calming, it also has this little tartness which I love to feel in my blend. Cedarwood is very centering and helps to clear my mind. Sandalwood is very grounding, balancing and meditative, helps me to be focused on present moment.

As a base this time I use V6 complex because it’s lighter in it’s texture and I find it to be great for roll-ons.

Muladhara Chakra Balancing Blend:

  • Vetiver – 7 drops
  • Patchouli – 3 drops
  • Cedarwood – 5 drops
  • Sandalwood – 3 drops
  • V6 carrier oil

I love to carry it around with me in a hand bag, it’s the easiest way for me to apply it my wrists or temples to support my emotions and to ground down each time I feel like I need it. Also you can just smell it directly. Or if you practice yoga or meditation either at home or somewhere else you can carry this blend around and use it to enhance your practice.
