When it comes to witchcraft, knowing how to cast a spell is just as important as the actual spell itself. Many beginners seem to think that casting spells require a lot of preparation in order for it to work but this is simply not true. Think about casting a spell in the same way that you would following a recipe. If you are short on time or energy just choose a simpler recipe with fewer ingredients and don’t worry too much if you miss a step or two! The most important thing is the clarity of your intention! With that being said, here are some things that need to be kept in mind when casting a spell:
How to Cast a Spell – Our 6 Step Guide
Step 1 – Know and understand your spell!
If you are unsure what your specific goals or intentions are please clarify these before casting your spell. Going into a spell with unfocused and poorly defined intentions will lead in disappointing results.
Step 2 – Prepare beforehand.
If your spell requires certain tools have these laid out and ready before casting. Breaking your focus mid spell to search for a missing item will dilute the effectiveness of your spellwork!
Step 3 – Calm your body and your mind.
Remember that the effectiveness of your spellwork is entirely contingent on your mental focus and clarity. Do not do spell work if you are feeling stressed, emotional or are intoxicated! If you are not feeling focused take the time to meditate before casting your spell or wait for a time when you feel calm and clear-minded.
Step 4 – Performing or creating a protective circle.
While some prefer to do their spellwork within a protective circle this is not at all required for the spell to be effective. If you feel like you are more secure casting your spell within a protective circle than by all means create one, otherwise feel free to leave this step out.
Step 5 – Build up your energy
Casting a spell requires more than simply reciting words by rote. For a spell to be effective you must focus your energy and intention on your desired goal. This requires a clear focus and a concentration of your energy so that you can direct towards the goal you seek to attain.
You can achieve this by taking deep breaths and visualizing the energy forming inside of you. As you move through your spell work picture the energy being released and guiding the spell towards its goal. You may also like to use a Wiccan symbol to help focus your energy during spell casting.
Step 6 – Give your thanks to the powers that be and bless the spellwork with gratitude.
