5 Tips for A Healthy Root Chakra

The Root chakra is an energy centre at the base of the spine. As the name suggests, it is the centre that roots or grounds us to Mama Earth.

The health of our Root chakra is related to the quality of our connection to Earth. Our energy body is not limited to Earth. It is expansive and connects to the entire Universe. However, our physical human body is most nourished by Earth energy, for it is a unique creation of Mama Earth.

Therefore, while we are here, it is important that we take good care of our Root chakra and ensure it receives all the strength and nourishment it needs.  

The Root chakra is primarily associated with the following:

  1. Survival
  2. Safety
  3. Trust in life
  4. Support
  5. Abundance
  6. Bodily connection/Being in the body

Five Ways To Strengthen The Root Chakra

  1. Spending time in nature is a great way to build a connection with Mama Earth. Touching trees, talking to plants and animals, walking bare feet on the Earth and smelling flowers are some ways to tune in to the pulse of Earth energy.
  2. Making a list of all the ways in which you are currently supported by life – as you focus on the blessings and support you already have, your faith grows and anxiety dissipates. Also, by virtue of the law of attraction, you draw more goodness to you.
  3. Supporting your human body with nourishing foods, adequate rest and appropriate exercise – when your physical body is in good shape, your energy body automatically receives a boost. Think of times when you were agitated and a walk outdoors in fresh air helped you regain composure. That’s how interconnected the physical body is with the mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. Taking good care of the energy body while neglecting the physical is not sufficient to bring about the balance that we seek as Reiki practitioners. All the bodies require equal attention and care.
  4. Clearing anxiety and worry using suitable tools ( like Emotional Freedom Technique or journaling) and not allowing them to build momentum in your energy field.
  5. Listening to music with an earthy feel – such as sounds of nature and drum music. You can play such music even while you practice Reiki self-healing and soak in their vibes.

Root Chakra Dialogue

Place your feet on the ground and palm over your Root chakra and affirm the following aloud-

I am a child of Mama Earth.
Mama, I open myself to receive your love and support completely, knowing that I am worthy of the same.
Life supports me and brings me everything I need to fulfill my purpose on this planet.
I am safe. I am stable. I am peaceful. I am well grounded.

Allow the vibrations of these words to be with you for a few moments. As you do so, notice if you receive any insights or messages from your Root chakra. Make a note of them. This will help you track your progress should you choose to repeat this exercise.
