Essential Oils For The Root Chakra

Chakras are the energy centers in our body which are connected between themselves and have a major impact on our physical and mental bodies. There are 7 main chakras known in our body: Muladhara, Swandhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna, Sahasrara.

When our chakras are out of balance, either blocked/closed with low energy flow or have excessive energy flow it resonates on our emotional state by shifting our well-being out of its balance.

I don’t want to go deep into the spiritualism of chakras as I’m not a guru. But I simply want to share with you how you can use essential oils to help you balancing these energy centers in every day life. To make it easier I want to break it into each chakra separate article.

Let’s start with the Root/Base chakra or Muladhara chakra.

Muladhara chakra is the first chakra in a chakra (energy) system, it is located in the very base of our spine, coccyx perineum area. It’s color is red. It is associated with:

  • basic needs (food, sleep, shelter)
  • security and safety
  • survival instinct
  • grounding

Associated emotions with Root chakra are: fear, obsessive/compulsive behavior, protective instincts.

When Root chakra is imbalanced we may experience:

  • excessive negativity
  • insecurity
  • eating disorders
  • greed

To help balancing the Root chakra along with your yoga and meditation practice using aromatherapy can be very helpful. Here you want to use grounding, centering and strengthening essential oils, that helps you to connect with the earth:

How to use essential oils:
