One of my favorite ways to use feng shui in my life and home is to use it to shift energy.
Whenever I’m feeling stuck, frustrated, or ready to move to the next level, one way that I clear the stagnant energy and feelings is to use feng shui!
How do you use feng shui to shift the energy in your life and go to the next level?
First: Set the intention.
Usually, when I’m ready to shift the energy, I come to a moment where I’m just ready. I’m done with what has been going on (or NOT going on) and I’m just done.
So I set the intention: I am done with this energy and I’m ready to go to the next level.
Next: Decide which area of your home you want to use to shift the energy.
Use the feng shui bagua map (the map of your home that shows you which area of your home correlates with the different areas of your life) to see which area of your home relates to the area of your life you want to shift. Click here to see the bagua map and how to use it in your home!
If you don’t really have a specific energy, idea, or area of your life that you want to shift, one area that is ALWAYS a good idea to feng shui to bring in new energy is your front entrance!
Once you have decided, it’s time to get busy shifting the energy!
One: Deep clean.
Get down and dirty, literally! Clean all of the things that you might not clean on a regular basis: baseboards, windows, and even the ceiling!
The point is to create a clean slate – clean the whole aura of the space so that all stagnant energy is gone and you have a fresh start.
Other things to look for:
- Clutter
- Broken items
- Leaks or repairs that need to be made
- Unfinished projects
- Dirt/grime/dust
- Burnt out light bulbs
- Items you’ve out grown or no longer want
- Overstuffed closets and/or drawers
- Books that reflect old interests or problems
- Dead/dying plants
- Artwork that is no longer inspiring or that depicts unwanted feelings or circumstances
- Photos that reflect a past you want to move away from or that doesn’t reflect where you’re going in life
If you are just getting started with feng shui, this might take a bit of time. But once it’s done, then it’s a lot easier to just spruce up the area when you are ready to shift something.
So if you need to take a couple of days to do this, don’t fret.
Just do one thing at a time and know that it is ENOUGH!
The intention and movement in the area is all it takes to shift the energy and make room for something new!
Two: Once you’ve cleaned, it’s time to smudge!
Cleaning, dusting, and moving objects around stirs up the Chi (life force energy) which stirs up all that negative energy that’s been sticking around. Smudging gets rid of that and clears the air.
If you feel like it, you can smudge your whole home, but also just smudging the area works.
Set your intention that you are getting rid of whatever it was that was holding you back and that you’re moving forward!
You are setting the boundary right now, and declaring to the Universe that you are ready for the next level! (Click here to learn how to smudge your home!)
Extra tip: If you have any crystals in this area, don’t forget to smudge them too!
Crystals get programmed with our intentions just like the rest of the objects in our spaces.
So when you’re ready to shift the energy – smudge them too!
You can also set the out with the full moon to cleanse them every month!
Once you’ve cleansed them (or while you’re smudging them) give them a new job: to hold the vibration of your next level and help you manifest your new dreams!
Three: Play some upbeat music.
You can do this while you’re cleaning/smudging, but don’t forget to keep it going for a bit after you’ve finished.
Upbeat music invites new, playful energy into your space and helps stir up the Chi. You get extra points if you dance to it for a few minutes! ????
Four: Place a feng shui cure!
This step is optional, but it can be extremely powerful because you’ve cleansed your space so well.
Choose a feng shui cure to place in the area and set your intention that this cure is taking your life to the next level.
Some ideas are: fresh flowers, a feng shui wealth bowl, a wind chime (to keep the Chi going), or a lamp with a high wattage bulb to bring attention to the space.
Depending on what you are calling in, you can do a search on this site for posts with feng shui cures specific to your situation.
Once you’ve placed your cure and set your intention, it’s time to give thanks!
Five: Light a gratitude candle.
Once you’ve done the above things, it’s time to give thanks to the Universe for helping you get to your next level!
Take a small piece of paper and write out your intention (as if it’s already happened.)
