11 Tips for Staying Cool in the Heat with Reiki

It is incredibly hot where I live. The heat is zapping our energy and leaving us drained. So, I try to use my Reiki routine and change it in accordance with the seasonal shifts. These are some of the tips I use during the summer.

  1. Have ice cube trays? I’m kind of old fashioned, so we don’t have a refrigerator that makes ice. So, I make the symbol Cho Ku Rei (or any Reiki symbol you want to) into each compartment of the tray, add the water, and then wait for it to freeze. Later, I then have a cold drink infused with ice cold Reiki.
  2. You can freeze aloe vera gel in an ice cube tray too. Repeat the steps above, except this time the icy cold Reiki is infused in the healing properties of aloe and can soothe your sunburnt skin.
  3. Speaking of ice, is there condensation on the glass if you drink it cold? If so, then that’s another way to use Reiki. Draw the symbols into the condensation on the outside of your glass.
  1. Do you find yourself making lemonade, sweet tea, or any drink where you will add sugar? Try tracing any of the Reiki symbols into the sugar. Then stir it into your liquid.
  2. Are you not using the oven and stove as much in an effort to keep the heat out of your kitchen? Do you find yourself cooking more outdoorsy kinds of foods like barbeque or grilling? Summer foods remind me of condiments. Condiments are an easy way to write the symbols onto your food. Put a Cho Ku Rei kethcup symbol (or any Reiki symbol you want to) on your roll.
  3. Going outside in the sun and about to put on some sunscreen for protection. Two ideas that you can try with sunscreen and Reiki. First, apply the sunscreen and draw the Reiki symbols onto your body before rubbing it into your skin. Second, try doing a brief self-Reiki session using your sunscreen application as a way to move through your intuitive hand positions. For instance, are you about to put sunscreen on your arms? Then channel Reiki to that area too!
  4. Do you have the luxury of swimming, either in a pool, creek, or ocean? Have you ever tried to channel Reiki will in the water? I actually find it extremely difficult. It’s a practice in concentration, visualization, and sensation. The water will change your perception of how you experience the Reiki energy. Adding the element of water while doing a self-Reiki treatment is something that I often practice because it is so challenging for me. So use the cooling benefits of the water to engage your practice!
  5. Use the temperature range throughout your day to your advantage. Can you switch up your self-care routine to the early mornings before the hottest part of the day. Or, can you find a quiet spot, outside at night, and practice in the cooling effects of moonlight?
  6. Try a visualization technique of being in a location that is cool, calm, and breezy. Or find a guided meditation that takes you on a journey to a cooler locale.
  7. Experience deep gratitude for the sudden shifts in weather. Is there a thunderstorm coming? Try channeling that energy and using Reiki…
