Inspiring Spring Essential Oils

If winter is associating with festive aromas around the Christmas time and more romantic blends around the valentines day then Spring is definitely brings some freshness with green, fresh, floral scents.

I love the feeling of spring even though I live now in a very hot climate where there is summer 365 days a year. So I don’t have this luxury of experiencing the actual spring. But what I can do is to make my home smell like the spring I remember. I mean, seriously, what can be better then actually smelling the spring. There is a saying “If the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain”, so by paraphrasing it a bit “if spring is not here I’ll make it happen at home” works quit well in my case.

My most spring associated essential oils are these that bring freshness, new life, a vibrancy, gentle scents, green and floral aromas that bring back the memories of newly open flowers, the trees that are getting green, and fresh new grass, the birds singing in the morning by the window, a day that is getting longer, a sun that is shining brighter. Shortly speaking it’s like a new beginning, a fresh start of everything.

  1. Petitgrain is number one in my list. It has very fresh, sharp, green, slightly bitter, citrusy, very vibrant and energetic aroma. It also promotes calm and harmony, inner vision, joy, confidence, expressiveness. Petitgrain is very uplifting essential oil. It blends very well with all the citrus essential oils like orange, lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, lime also clary sage, sage, marjoram, basil, lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, frankincense, juniper, palmarosa, neroli, rose, ylang ylang, cypress, pine, clove.
  2. Neroli comes from the same tree as Petitgrain and Bitter Orange. But the aroma is quit different. Neroli has strong but yet light floral aroma, with some citrus floral-green, slightly bitter heart notes, very gentle, radiant and innocent aroma. It promotes joy, calmness, understanding, peace, regeneration, creativity. It is perfect for the spring.  It bends well with petitgrain, orange, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, coriander, geranium, roman chamomile, frankincense, lavender.
  3. Geranium really resonates with Mother Earth, with feminine energy and beginning. The aroma is fresh, rosy, herbaceous, slightly green and sweet. It is one of the most balancing essential oils. Geranium encourages regeneration, steadiness, assurance, creativity, imagination, intuition, re-connection. It blends well with bergamot, black pepper, roman chamomile, clary sage, clove, cypress, fennel, frankincense, grapefruit, jasmine, rose, lavender, lemon, tangerine, orange, palmarosa, peppermint, spearmint, rosemary.
  4. Palmarosa with all its emotionally soothing actions really resonates with Heart Chakra. It has a very soft rosy, fresh, green, with lemony nuances aroma. Palmarosa encourages the sense of adaptability and feeling of security, it promotes calmness, kindness and…
