The Great Lie So Many Want To Believe In

The thought of being a healer engages the ego like no other, yet the thought of first healing ourselves couldn’t be further from our mind. In truth the only person to heal is ourselves and the world is not in need of more “healers” but more people who are willing to let go of their victim mentality and accept personal responsibility for their condition. Unfortunately this ethos no matter how truthful will not generate students or clients in the same way as the belief in the transference of the magical ability of healing. This is the great lie so many want to believe in.

To edge closer to the truth we could call ourselves educators but the ego isn’t interested in being educated and if the truth were known neither are those who seek the quick fix of externally imposed healing. They simply want the removal of the obvious symptom so they can continue to live their life in a way they choose, oblivious to the fact their life choices create the condition they seek to escape from. So often “healers” claim victory when in fact all they have done is temporarily removed the symptom, allowing the root cause to go untouched which will lead to the inevitable resurfacing of the condition time and time again. The only person capable of locating and removing the root cause is the person who planted the seeds in the first place the owner of the condition they seek to escape from.

The thought of being a healer engages the ego like no other, and this desire to aspire to heal others indicates there is room for improvement in ourselves first and foremost before we start getting involved in other people’s lives. When the teacher Jesus told the physician to “first heal himself” he wasn’t just referring to the physical condition, he knew as did Dr. Usui two thousand years later healing can’t be considered complete until it encompasses the mind, body and spirit-consciousness. The only person with the power, responsibility and duty of care to accomplish this transformation which we know as the healing process is the owner of the condition and the life that created its existence.

The thought of being a healer engages the ego like no other; and like all root causes must be first identified and addressed before remedial action can be carried out which if we think about it is the essence of the healer first healing themselves and letting go of the desire to heal anyone other than themselves.
